Welcome to Prospective Members

Dear Prospective Member,

Welcome to Kesher Israel Congregation!  We are pleased that you have chosen to affiliate with us and hope that your association will be long and rewarding.

Kesher Israel is a warm, diverse, and egalitarian congregation.  We pride ourselves on our commitment to building a nurturing and supportive Jewish community in which our members come together to celebrate Jewish holidays through the seasons, mark life cycle events, to work for Tikkun Olam (“repair of the world”), to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Jewish life, and to socialize.  Though our congregation has grown since we moved into our “new” building in 1988, we strive to maintain a feeling of warmth and closeness in all that we do.

Under the leadership of Rabbi Lawrence Troster, Kesher Israel strives to provide multiple points of entry for nurturing members’ meaningful relationship with God and Jewish tradition.  Friday night services are informal and Shabbat morning services feature an interactive Torah study and discussion that takes place in the main sanctuary.

Jewish education is at the heart of Kesher Israel’s mission as a Jewish community.  Our preschool and full-day kindergarten programs are widely recognized throughout the county as centers for excellence in early childhood education.  Our David Ari and Michael Eric Zukin Religious School, under the direction of full-time educator Rabbi Cynthia Kravitz, prides itself on helping to instill our children with both knowledge and a love of Jewish tradition and Jewish life.  Students and parents come together frequently for family education.  Adults are offered a variety of programs in which to begin, or to expand, their relationship with Jewish life, Jewish learning and Jewish values.

Depending on your interest and motivation, you will find numerous avenues by which to express your passion at Kesher Israel. It is the talent and commitment of our members that makes our community vibrant.

Becoming involved in life at Kesher Israel is a key to feeling integrated.  There are many places that really do need your help—if only for an hour a month—and you will quickly feel a developing sense of belonging and friendship.  If you wish to become active in any specific area of Congregational activity, or would like to discuss where to help out and join in, please let us know. We welcome your help and participation.

Please take advantage of everything that KI has to offer.  Be an active participating member, so we benefit from your membership and your energy. We look forward to welcoming you into the Kesher Israel community.

B ‘Shalom,

Debbie Ward
